Broward County's Building Code Division, part of its Resilient Environment Department, regulates construction in unincorporated Broward and in the cities that contract with it. Most larger cities run their own building departments.

Storm season in Broward

Broward is in the state's High Velocity Hurricane Zone.

The Florida Building Code names only two counties in its High Velocity Hurricane Zone: Broward and Miami-Dade. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30 (NOAA).
