When to call right away

These are electrical emergencies. Don't wait for morning.

Some problems are inconvenient. These ones can start a fire, shock someone, or leave a home or business without power. If you see one of them, call 786-981-5166 and we walk you through the next minute.

While you wait

What to do in the first minute.

  • Smoke or flames: get everyone out and call 911 before you call us.
  • Burning smell, sparks or a hot outlet: if the panel is safe to reach, switch off the breaker for that circuit or the main. Don't touch anything that is wet or scorched.
  • Breaker keeps tripping: leave it off. Resetting it again and again heats the wiring.
  • Water near the panel or outlets: don't step into the water. Shut off the main only if you can reach it dry.
  • Downed line outside: keep at least 30 feet away and call the utility's outage line.
  • Then call 786-981-5166. Tell us what you see, where it is, and whether anyone was shocked. We tell you what to switch off and what to leave alone.

What happens when you call

A licensed electrician, not a call center script.

  • You reach us directly, 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
  • We ask what you see and give you the safe next step on the phone.
  • We dispatch a licensed electrician to your home or business in Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach County.
  • On site we make it safe first, find the cause, and explain what we found before any repair.
  • If the repair needs a permit or an inspection, we handle that part too.

Emergency repairs

The problems behind most emergency calls, and what we do about them.

Panel and breaker faultsOverheated breakers, loose lugs, a main that won't hold. We repair or replace the failed part and check the rest of the panel while it is open.
Outlet and switch failuresDead, hot or sparking devices, back-stabbed connections, damaged boxes. Replaced and re-terminated properly.
Wiring faultsShorts, opens and damaged cable found by tracing the circuit, not guessing. Repaired to code.
Storm and water damageFlooded panels, wet outlets, surge-damaged equipment after a South Florida storm. Made safe, then repaired.
Commercial power lossBusinesses, restaurants, property managers: after-hours faults that stop trading. Same 24-hour line.
Fire alarm and life-safety faultsAlarm systems in trouble or supervisory alarm. We service fire alarm and life-safety systems.

FAQ

Emergency electrician questions.

Straight answers. If yours isn't here, call and ask.

Yes. Hi-Tech Electric & Fire answers calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including nights, weekends and holidays, across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

It depends on what failed and what it takes to make it safe and repair it. We don't publish prices. When you call, we tell you what we need to see, and on site we explain what we found and what the repair involves before we do it.

If there is a burning smell, sparking or a hot outlet and you can reach the panel safely and dry, switch off the breaker for that circuit or the main. If there is water on the floor near the panel, don't. Call us and describe it; we'll tell you what to touch and what to leave alone.

Usually your side: a tripped main, a failed breaker, a burned connection at the meter or panel, or a lost phase on a commercial service. Check for a reported outage on your street first; if there is none, call us.

Yes. Commercial power loss, panel and distribution faults, lighting and fire-alarm trouble: same 24-hour line, same licensed electricians. Recurring service is available for commercial properties.

Making it safe never waits for paperwork. If the permanent repair involves the panel, the service or new circuits, a permit and inspection are usually required in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach, and we handle that as part of the job.
